This first Wednesday of engaging, online family content is centered around Tiffany's c. 1885, iron fireplace hood, set to enrich the Museum’s Laurelton Hall galleries this fall. The hood is Tiffany’s own design and fabrication. It was originally installed at his Seventy-Second Street house in New York City before being moved to Tiffany’s Long Island estate Laurelton Hall around 1919. It is an example of how Tiffany often incorporated Japanese design aesthetics into his artwork. Create your own examples of Japanese art and artifacts that with step-by-step activities after learning more about these influences on the decoration of Tiffany’s personal residences.
The first of three Wednesdays of engaging family content to be uploaded to the Museum’s “Create and Explore” webpage, morsemuseum.org/create-explore.
