Fast-forward in your mind to 2030. How will our gateway to downtown Winter Park look and function 10 years from now?
These are the questions we should be asking, and now is the time for responsible, forward-thinking action. After a years-long effort to gather input from residents and landowners along this corridor, the City of Winter Park has submitted a proposal to guide development effectively and avoid pockets of hapless blight.
The Chamber is hosting an Orange Avenue Overlay Summit next Wednesday, March 4, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., to ask important questions of panelists of various disciplines. Click here to see information on the panelists.
From redevelopment to reimagining our urban growth, the Summit will help distinguish the Truth from the Myths being shared across our community and encourage informed choices by Winter Park Commissioners.
If passed by the City Commission, the Orange Avenue Overlay District will unify the interests of residents, businesses, property owners and even passers-by. It would incentivize the private sector to plan buildings based on a pedestrian lifestyle and resolve issues that plague us, such as a need for parking space, turning lanes for dangerously busy intersections and traffic-calming strategies.
Join us! Let’s be the generation that embraced smart growth in Winter Park.
