The Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator (30 hour) class focuses on the principles and fundamentals of the Orton-Gillingham Approach. This class will provide an introductory understanding of dyslexia, characteristics of the dyslexic learner, specific procedures for teaching these students primarily in reading and spelling, and the foundation for class or small group assessment and lesson planning. Specific areas covered will include phonemic awareness, phonograms, syllable types, syllable division, short vowel rules, spelling choices, and basic prefixes and suffixes, as well as suffix rules.
**There is a homework component to the course which will result in an additional 10 hours of PD for the reading requirement.**
