While the actual event had to be postponed, Susan G. Komen Florida remains committed to celebrating and serving those touched by breast cancer. The hundreds of participants who were looking forward to a day of celebration and hope during the first More Than Pink Walk in Orlando, can now gather virtually on Saturday, May 2nd.
The virtual event, hosted on Komen Florida’s Facebook page (facebook.com/komenflorida) will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be hosted by Vanessa Echols of WFTV and Ashley Stegbauer of Obie & Ashley in the Morning on K92.3.
“We know this is not ideal, but we are all in this together,” shared Komen Florida Executive Director Kate Watt. “And while we cannot physically be together, this virtual event provides an opportunity to celebrate our survivors and thrivers, thank those who worked so hard to support the event, and will help participants to stay healthy during our individual walks.”
Walkers will hear from the hosts about Komen’s four pillars to fight the disease, find out who the top fundraisers are, recognize sponsors who remain committed to Komen and the fight against breast cancer, and encourage participants to walk 3,040 steps for the day (1.5 miles) – the distance of what the walk would have been around Crane’s Roost Park.
