The Very Last Green Thing features the Opera Orlando Youth Company and tackles some timely issues. Journey to a classroom in the year 2413 where a group of students is raised and taught by an android. On a rare field trip “outside,” a shy and obedient child named Amy unexpectedly discovers the very last green thing on Earth. Soon she must confront the truth and make important choices as the secrets of the past are uncovered.
With libretto and music by Cary John Franklin and Michael Patrick Albano, The Very Last Green Thing uses the medium of opera to encourage young people to think about their environment, their role in protecting that environment, and how their actions today affect the world of tomorrow. Meet the cast and enjoy a post-performance reception immediately following each show.
